Claudette (The Pug Lady) and I (Mr. Pug Lady) are a 60yo + semi-retired couple, Claudette has ten brothers and sisters and I have three sisters, we have five children ant countless nieces and nephews, all Pug lovers.
You must have heard of Mira the Guide Dog foundation that trains guide dogs for blind, deaf person and person with visual and motor disabilities.
They put their Puppies in families to familiarize them with the day to day life for a period of time until the dog is ready for training.
Well; in a way, we do like them, except that most of the dogs are owned by the families where they live (our family members and friends generally), also some keep dogs that are ours in their homes for us.
The point is that when a gestating female is about to give birth, she's brought here a few weeks before giving birth to her Puppies, here is a quiet place where we live alone and where there is no frightening or irritating noise or events to disturb the female, (and we all know that that's what they need).
When the big day arrives, Claudette and I are very familiar with this and we have the tools, instruments to give proper assistance to the female and Puppies, sometimes (most of the time) we stay up all night to help and take care.
After this; it's 24/7 of surveillance during about 8 to 10 days until the Pups are strong enough to get and keep their place at feeding and also at getting out from under the mother that doesn't always notice that she's laying on one of her babies.
When the Pups are weaned, the mother returns to her home.
Then comes my job: Taking pictures of the Puppies and putting them on the net for adoption. We keep the Pups in our home until they're sold, if they stay long enough, they're trained to do their things on the pad and don't develop bad habits like chewing on shoes or furniture, it's easier for us because there is nothing much here to disturb the Puppies so we can give them all of our attention.
So we don't keep adult dogs here except for short periods of time and all of the Puppies that we keep here are in the house with us.
People Pug lovers contact us through our website, email, telephone and word of mouth, we do business directly with them and take care of taking the Puppy to the vet., clinic for exams, vaccines, worm treatment, microchip implant and we get the health record from the clinic, then we take care of registering the Puppy to the CKC to get the purebred certificate.
WE NEVER SELL TO PET SHOPS, DOG BROKERS OR ANY OTHER COMMERCIAL ENTITY! WE ONLY DO BUSINESS PERSONALLY WITH INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE.
Last but not least: The dogs that are old enough for retirement are kept in the homes where they have always lived until they are ready to go to dog heaven. WE ARE NOT ADEPTS OF EUTHANASIA FOR AGE REASON!
